June gloom ✨☁️🌱
Thanks for all the support on my previous post. It’s a little scary to be vulnerable and share some intimate numbers and feelings on here. But I also feel like I don’t have much to loose and maybe helped a few people feel less alone. Grateful for the sky drama (the only good drama) that made the week a little less stressful (do any other farmers loathe the sun ?😂).
This is what $1,200 worth of boxes looks like. Today we harvested $1,200 worth of veggies, thankfully. Although we don’t see most of that revenue for 30 days.
I went to check on the soil moisture at our plot across town yesterday. The field of cover crop was buzzing with life! I did find a few wet areas with standing water still. So, the cover crop gets a bit more time to soak up the excess water (we received over 52” of rain this winter!) before we can begin preparing this site. There is so much beauty and magic (and chaos and faith and timing!) in this farming dance we do every spring!
Another season is well underway. Another chance to strike the balance between “work” and “life”. It’s a fine, and often, blurry line for many farmers. I feel like we’re off to a good start this year, but there are many mountains yet to come.
Baby arugula coming up!
